Cooperation Agreement signed between the Ministry of Education and Science of Armenia, the Youth Professional Orientation Center and VivaCell-MTS

Today a trilateral Cooperation Agreement was signed between the Ministry of Education and Science of Armenia, the Youth Professional Orientation Center under the Ministry of Employment and Social Affairs and Armenia’s Leading Mobile Operator VivaCell-MTS. The Cooperation Agreement sets directions for a long-term and strategic collaboration between VivaCell-MTS and the sphere of education in the area of senior schools’ development.

The Senior School Project is focused on creating better opportunities for school children of the senior schools in Armenia while choosing future specializations/occupations and the respective higher educational institutions where they can get the best education in the field of choice.

In frames of the Cooperation Agreement career counseling sessions will be implemented in all the senior schools all over Armenia. The selection of the senior schools will be done together with the Ministry of Education and Science of Armenia. The sessions will be conducted together with the Youth Professional Orientation Center (YPOC) and VivaCell-MTS specialists. VivaCell-MTS is the first Company coming up with such an initiative.

“Professional orientation is an essential component missing from the chain of continuous education. The mission of the project is two-fold. On the one hand, senior class students are given an opportunity to decide on their future profession of choice not only based on the social status of the profession, or the parents’ and friends’ advice, but also through the face-to-face communication with real specialists, who have respective educational and professional background. This will help minimize such costs as time, energy and material resources invested in case of wrong choice, with the benefit being the devotion and concentration on obtaining experience in the right specialization that corresponds most to the individuality, skills and knowledge of the school children. On the other hand, the project will have a solid social impact - it will help meet the needs of the job market and help the Armenian youth stay and work in Armenia”, the VivaCell-MTS General Manager commented.   

The career counseling sessions are comprised of two components: the first session is conducted in the selected senior schools by the YPOC on the labor market awareness, where the participants are given booklets with short description of top 5 highly demanded specializations/occupations in the Armenian labor market as well as at VivaCell-MTS, and are requested to choose one or more specializations about which they are interested to learn more.

The second session includes visits to the VivaCell-MTS Headquarters where the Company’s respective specialists are presenting on 5 highly demanded specializations/occupations in the Company which are the following:
• Marketing / Product Development
• Radio-infrastructure and Telecommunication
• Industrial Electronics Engineering
• Database Programming or Administration
• Computer and Network Administration

For the initial phase, the Ministry of Education and Science proposed 10 senior schools. However, the Ministry, the Youth Professional Orientation Center and VivaCell-MTS plan to increase the number of senior schools up to 20 till the end of 2011.

The Senior School Project is a long-term investment in the Armenia’s younger generation with an aim to prepare them as future specialists of highly demanded specializations in the Armenian labor market, especially in the field of telecommunication, and as a potential human capital for the VivaCell-MTS as one of the top employers.
